Overpromised and undercommitted

Commitment

That, I think, was the phrase I remember most from the younger clergy gathering I attended today, which Bishop hosted in Columbia. Thirteen of our clergy met to reflect on doing ministry now. I think this phrase, which I think Lucas from Schweitzer UMC in Springfield used to describe our churches when they are not at their best. Maybe more later, after my charge conference at St. Peter. The rock, don't you know.

Welcome to the Methodist blogosphere! I've just discovered your blog via Shane Raynor's Methodist Blogroll.

I'm definately not emergent, but we have some fine emergentish Methobloggers in our circle, notably Jonathon Norman and Gavin Richardson.

What about Jay Voorhees? http://www.onlywonder.com/wordpress/
He is pretty emergentish, too, I think.

Oh, yeah -- I forgot about him. Jay's an authority on emergent Methodism.

Susan,

I am glad to hear that you are emergent minded. I am thinking hard core about attending Biblical Theological Seminary. (John Franke is a professor there) Do you think this is doable as far as maintaining (SP) a relationship with the UMC?

By the way, there are more of us than I think we all realize. Oh...I'm a Youth Director at Ashland UMC in St. Joseph. Thought you might want to know that.

P.S.-I too have had the priviledge of sitting on during several sessions of McLaren's at the emergent conference in Nashville this past year.
