Tonight I went with Fred and Linda Leist and some Kearney folks first out to dinner and then to the Uptown Theater where Landon Leist, son of the above mentioned Fred and Linda, was playing with a new band to him, Brother Bagman. Sorry about the picture quality---mydig camera's battery ran out and I took this on my phone. Man, can that boy (he's actually 22) play the electric guitar---he is really something. I mean it. It was really rockin' stuff, which had been immediately preceded by Delvis, the Elvis impersonator. As I listened to Landon, and listened to Fred occasionally make a comment, and as I listened to the lyrics as best I could hear them over the very loud music (yes, okay, I am over fifty) I heard words that seemed not dark and dreary, but somewhat hopeful really. With some redeeming value (I realize "redeeming value" is a judgement-laden phrase.) But to tell you the truth, it was the fun of it, the joy and pride that these parents have, the really great music, the support from the other Kearney folks to Fred and Linda ..."he is really good.." (and just being there was the greatest support, of course) that may have been the most redeeming thing of all. I would like to sit down and talk a bit with Landon, and also to get my Caleb hooked up with him. There are several PK rock players around, and it sure would be fun to get them all together sometime....
