Bill and Nancye

Bill and Nancye

Today was cabinet. What a great group of people we have as d.s.s in Missouri right now! As we finished the day today, Bishop asked us newbies to share our reflections on our first year of appointment making. It has been quite the experience. In sharing his thoughts, brother newbie d.s. Bill Koch (Mark Twain District...that is, northeast Missouri) talked about how hard it is to find and to understand how different ministry is today than it was, and how doing ministry with millenials is something very hard for us boomers to get. Here are Bill and Nancye Dunlap (my good friend and oldie (sorry Nancye) ds of the Gateway Central District (that is, the central St. Louis metropolitan area) talking a bit about what the heck emergent is. Bill has asked me more than once to help him understand, and I am not doing a very good job. I guess I just need to publish some websites. I find it really encouraging that the word "emergent" was spoken more than once this appointment season in our cabinet room (that is where this photo was taken). Thanks, colleagues and friends, for walking with me in ministry. And thanks for caring enough for this generation to want to listen and learn.
