Checking In

Thanks for those who wonder why the blog isn't blogging much these days. It certainly isn't because I have nothing to say...forbid it, Lord. I do continue to read muchly, interspersing Hempton's Methodism book chapters when I finish another one. I finished "Whose Afraid of Postmodernism" last week and have taken up a book that I really resonate with entitled "A Matrix of Meanings: Finding God in Pop Culture" (okay, the "search inside" thing gives it away--I stole the image from Amazon) which is really up my emerging alley...so to speak. It is by Craig Detweiler (wonder if he is any relationship to the wonderful retiree from our conference Dick Detweiler) and Barry Taylor. Also I am meeting with four others from the KC emergent cohort on Wed. to do some planning for next year. Truth be told, I have had my mind on some other things the last 10 days or so, and will share that in a few days. Love to all your emergent watchers out there...we seem to be a growing bunch ... had a delightful encounter today with the twenty-something young men who work at Half Price books in Westport ...no huge thing, just a growing sense that my ministry continues to be somehow connected to folks like them...

Thanks ableknife. I always enjoy suggestions of books. I just checked out your blog---hope you are doing well. My daughter and I were in Seattle last week and visited the first Starbucks...it was fun...SKCJ
