A colt, Luke writes
A child horse.
The weight of the man
Quite hard to bear---
Simon, bearer of the cross;
A colt, bearer of the Savior.
How was it that the disciples
Found this colt?
How was it that the owners
Did not cry "Thief!"
How slowly the colt
Crept into the city,
Carrying his heavy burden.
And how far did he
Bear the savior?
All the way til tears fell
For the Holy City?
What did that colt become,
What character of horse?
Did he later and older
Becoming soldier's steed
Carry Cornelius' men to find the Rock?
Or did he pull a grand Ethiopian chariot
unable to outrun Philip and grace?
Or did he return home
pondering this thing in his child-like heart?
And somehow know, through the horse-sense
God gave him
That it was worth the burden---
it was light---
And that glory loomed ahead?
