The bishop came over to meet with two more small groups of Heartland North district pastors yesterday at Good Shepherd UMC. He met with my student pastors, eight of whom could be present, along with one Central district student pastor. I am so grateful for the exceptional students we have this year! Third from the left, in the white shirt (and TIE!) is Mike Dunlap, who is our longest-reigning student at the moment, having served faithfully at Millville and New Hope, two fairly isolated churches north of Richmond for four years while in school at Saint Paul. Immediately to his right is Jill Daniel, our great new pastor at Wellington. Greg Taylor is in between the bishop and Mike, and Judy Frost is on the far left. Christine Tucker-Key, our district committee on ministry chair is behind the bishop and you can also see a bit of Kevin Buckrucker, our district lay leader at her table. Anyway, what I would have given for an up-close-and-personal visit with my bishop when I was in seminary. I am grateful for a bishop who will do this now. Also make sure to check out www.5practices.org ... Among all the great content on the site, you will also see that we in Missouri now have a blogging Bishop!!!

Susan,
It is good to have you back in the blogging world. When will you write another poem?
The pictures from your phone will prove interesting, I am sure.
Dear Anon:
Thanks for the welcome back. As for the next poem, I'm not sure. The muse must strike. Or I have to be in the right mood when prose won't exactly do. I have written and rewritten an additional phrase here, but have decided against writing anything more for fear of being read as a veiled comment on...well, who knows what. (Please don't read too much in that last phrase :-)) Anyway, get ready, I am sure the muse will strike soon enough. We know not when the day or hour.SKCJ
