I'm sitting in Panera's on the Plaza, giving Cana a break from me. Or am I giving me a break from Cana?? She was so much looking forward to me being in Emporia today for a class (that I ended up not taking) that I have tried to stay away from the condo today, except for the Cards game on Big Fox of course. Wasn't that a great game?!?
Anyway, on my jaunts early this afternoon I had Cypress Avenue on (NPR local great music program) and we were told that Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives are coming to town next Saturday at the Folly. I forgot that I adore him until I heard this show. I especially am really fond of the Souls Chapel cd that came out in 2005. I heard a great interview with him on All Things Considered back then, and tried to find the cd then, and couldn't. I just downloaded it from Itunes. Wow. I would recommend it.

And I seem to have rabbit-trailed myself into reading Elizabeth George's mystery novels. I guess several of them have been on the Mystery! series on PBS over the years but these are new to me. I adored the first one (I read it last week) and am halfway through the second. Very, very human. And redemptive. And I would recommend. That is, if you don't blush too easily and can stand some description of gore.
I also made it back to River Market Antique Mall today. They love me there...guess why??? Paul, the most disorganized mid century dealer there, who is so nice to me about price, had two marvelous Danish modern tile top end tables that jumped out at me and said "BUY ME!" So I did. I drive to West Chicago and then to St. Louis this next week on an "ebay-pick up junket" and MAYBE a Cards game, but probably not. ANYWAY...this is beginning to sound like one of those letters home....guess I'd better go there. It's all of three blocks away!!!
OH!!! And the biggest GREAT NEWS of the DAY!!! BISHOP SCHNASE HAS BEEN ASSIGNED BACK TO US FOR ANOTHER FOUR YEARS!!! No, no, it doesn't rival the apocalypse or anything but it is the best news that United Methodists in Missouri could get!!!
