Tonight I was blessed to attend The Kansas City Chorale concert at Asbury UMC in Prairie Village Kansas. I knew that this is considered the finest ensemble in Kansas City. Now I know it. It was an "all Christmas" concert, Brittan's Ceremony of Carols as well as some new settings of traditional texts. One Albert Dart carol was sung near the beginning of the concert, the one entitled Some Children See Him. It was written in 1951 by Mr. Dart and a friend of his who wrote many of his texts. I wonder today if there would be some who take his description of ethnic diversity as offensive---I do not know. But the message in it rings so very true for me, and the tune is so lovely, the first verse or more tonight sung by Bryan Taylor, Director of Music at Liberty UMC and member of this group (and thanks, Bryan for the free ticket!)
I couldn't find Bryan singing this on a youtube video but I did fine the Annie Moses band singing and playing it, and it is a lovely substitute:
