Tomorrow bright and early I leave for the airport to fly to Washington DC to speak at Wesley Seminary's Friday MCI event, which is a way for the seminary to lead out in connecting leaders with key ideas of the 21st century. Guess what I am speaking on? Hey, you're right!!! I will also be on a panel with Lovett Weems and Bishop Schol. This feels like a really wonderful opportunity and I have been working hard on the presentation...there will be several d.s.s there, I believe. How appreciative I am of the seminary, especially Doug Strong, for inviting me out there. I plan to blog as I go along, hopefully more than once a day. I will come back on Saturday. There currently is an ice storm happening here....I drove back from cabinet in Columbia in it (really not till KC). And several inches of snow are predicted for tomorrow and Friday. Well, anyway, not anything too profound being said here, obviously. Two really great things happened to me in the last twenty four hours though--a good supper at Jazz in Columbia with Kendall (even better conversation) and, when at the end of our cabinet meeting today I requested prayer for my Wesley trip and presentation, bishop prayed for me by name ... something I do not believe I have ever had a bishop do in my presence, ever and which I will always remember. Thanks, rs. And thanks for listening.
