Today we hosted in the district office a gathering of the pastors of the Heartland North District who started new pastorates on July 1. It was really fun for me to see people meet each other for the first time and to hear "first Sunday" stories and about how welcoming the churches have been. Thirteen of our newly appointed pastors were present--four were not able to attend. We had quite a diverse group of folks there--four retired pastors in new places of ministry; three others who are serving a church as pastor for the first time; and six in the middle of their active ministry. Below is a picture that Kevin Buckrucker took of the group...Kevin was able to share with the pastors about the hope that we have that laity and clergy will work together for mutual ministry, support and accountability.
